After years of contemplating writing a blog, I decided to take the plunge. I lumped a “few of my favorite things” into categories: fun, fitness, food, finance and travel. It is quite underwhelming right now (ok empty…) but it will surely fill up over time.
For my first post, I just want to take a moment to introduce myself and my journey to the blog world! Hello new friends!
“LONG LOST ATHLETE” – why the name you ask?
I used to live and breathe sports. I was 5’3″ and 114 lbs. of solid muscle… I was also 20 years old but whatever… An athlete to-the-core with a zest for playing many sports that made my heart skip a beat. Division III ice hockey in college was my sport of choice… against women and men. It was always a blast beating the boys. 🙂
Now, many years after college graduation, I lost stamina, my metalobism (<–get it? from the movie Big Daddy) slowed, the 114 lbs figure (which lets be real, it’s pretty unattainable from the days of I used to work out 4 hours a day (2-hour on-ice skate and 2-hour off-ice training…hello, cardio central). I could eat anything and everything… including a medium pizza all by myself… (Right Selena?!).
One of the hardest things has been keeping weight off and eating right a majority of the time… because cheese fries, bacon and quesadillas are soooooooooooooo darn good.
Actually, I was working full-time, going to graduate school at night and researching and studying for multiple exams. Any other moment I had I was pretty much staring at the back of my eyelids.
Now, I can happily say I recently graduated in December 2016 with my MBA from Villanova School of Business… woohoo! Go Wildcats! I’ve also regained a ton of time to spend making sure I live a happy, more healthy and full life.
Not only will this blog follow me to regain the athlete I once was to maintain a healthy lifestyle at this stage in my life, I also will share all sorts of fun, amusing and some of my favorite things! Food, fitness, traveling, and so much more that comes to my mind… which can be often and very much random.
I am looking forward to interacting with you all!
